Preferred qualifications include licensure/certification or impending licensure; unlicensed candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience as veterinary technician will be considered – however, new graduates with appropriate qualifications are welcome! Required skills include all aspects of anesthesia, radiography, dental prophylaxis, venipuncture, and catheter placement. The appropriate candidate must be able to effectively manage all components of complex surgical procedures as well as standard general practice responsibilities.

* Help to maintain cleanliness of the facility (i.e., washing floors, sweeping, cleaning, disinfecting

surfaces, cleaning treatment and surgery areas, check parking lot for manure, cleaning drains,

stocking feed stalls, emptying trash).

* Perform routine laboratory test, documenting results or communicating with the appropriate

veterinarian.

* Fill‐in when needed for after hours on‐call rotation and responsibilities.

* Assist with preparations of surgical packs, tables, carts, medications, drapes, etc.

* Responsible for post‐surgical or post treatment cleaning procedures.

* Assist with the overall maintenance of the clinic and facility, including bathrooms and lab area.

* Other projects as requested.

  • Fluid calculations, including up to multiple CRIs

  • Perform appropriate patient restraint for examinations and procedures

  • Understand most major surgical procedures and the appropriate treatment

  • Acquire, prepare and ship laboratory specimens (Heska in-house, Antech outside lab, other labs as requested) along with running automated CBCs, preparation of blood films to perform manual differentials and platelet counts, running various chemistries, Coag tests, and collect, evaluate and report urinalysis results.

  • General nursing care such as: transferring cases to the ICU team, accurately obtaining and assessing patient vitals (temperatures, pulses/heart rate, respirations, blood pressure, pain score, etc.), auscultation of the lungs, prepare and administer parental nutrition

  • Perform general venipuncture, peripheral/central/arterial catheter placement and maintenance

  • Perform possible emergency procedures during surgery including but not limited to resuscitation with colloids/crystalloid fluids, establish and maintenance of open airway intubation, oxygen administration via ET tube administration of pharmacological agents under veterinary supervision

  • Induction, surgical skin preparation, monitor and recovery of surgical patients for minor or major surgical procedures

  • Admitting and discharging patients, client communication and education, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments 

  • Cleaning, stocking, general organization and maintenance of ICU/Isolation equipment and supplies

  • On-call rotations 

 

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures and terminology with willingness to pursue further education equaling Certified/Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician Specialist (ACVECCT-VTS) status. 

  • Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats) and stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to perform veterinary medical procedures (i.e. administer CPR, draw blood, administer medications and fluids, and assess and triage patients.

  • Ability to communicate well with other technicians and doctors regarding the needs of the patients

  • Have basic organizational and computer skills as well as good technician skills.

  • Preferred: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).  One year of recent experience in veterinary practice with increasing responsibilities.

ER Technician Description

Major Duties

 Understand most major illnesses and the appropriate treatment Acquire, prepare and ship
laboratory specimens (Heska in-house, Antech outside lab, other labs as requested) along with
running automated CBCs, preparation of blood films to perform manual differentials and
platelet counts, running various chemistries, Coag tests, and collect, evaluate and report
urinalysis results.
 General nursing care such as: accurately obtaining and assessing patient vitals (temperatures,
pulses/heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, pain score, etc.), auscultation of the lungs,
prepare and administer parental nutrition, calculations of injectable drugs, perform general
venipuncture, peripheral/central/arterial catheter placement and maintenance
 Perform emergency procedures including but not limited to resuscitation with
colloids/crystalloid fluids, establish and maintenance of open airway intubation, oxygen
administration via ET tube/nasal/flow-by/O2 cage, administration of pharmacological agents
under veterinary supervision Induction, surgical skin preparation, monitor and recovery of
surgical patients for minor or major surgical procedures
 Admitting and discharging patients, client communication and education, answering phone calls
and scheduling appointments Cleaning, stocking, general organization and maintenance of
ICU/Isolation equipment and supplies
Required Knowledge and Skills:

 Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology with a willingness to

Very busy 1 Dr practice looking to add to our awesome staff. We have an opening for a FT Veterinary Technician. Certification desirable but not required. Experience is a must. Our team is focused on providing quality medicine and strives to give excellent client and patient care. We are looking for a qualified person with at least 2-3 years clinical experience that can meet the following requirements: I.V catheter placement, urine and blood draws, place endotracheal tube and maintain anesthesia with gas anesthesia machine, monitor and interpret vital signs during anesthesia, prep patients for surgical procedures, take diagnostic digital radiographs, restrain both dogs and cats, run routine in-house lab samples --blood, urine, fecals (experience with Idexx diagnostic equipment a plus), perform dental cleanings and take digital dental x-rays, answering phones and interacting with clients. Some reception duties will be required. We are a family owned general practice focusing on complete personalized care for pets.  If you would like to fully utilize your skills in the areas of anesthetic induction, surgical monitoring, surgical assisting, orthopedic assisting, surgical recovery, dentistry, dental radiology, patient care, laboratory work, digital radiology, client education and communication. Our clinic is spacious and modern, with digital radiology and digital dental radiology, anesthetic monitoring machines, IV infusion pumps, dental machine with fiber optics, in-house analyzers, and we use Avimark Veterinary software.  Your skills are put to use in the highest quality medicine in a collaborative environment, focusing on what's best for the patient in a way that puts both owners and patients at ease.

Our purpose: To serve and advocate for pets with gold standard veterinary medicine as it is our joy to care for animals entrusted to us.

This position is full time and this person must be able to work a variety of shifts. (Scheduled 35-38 hours/week). Our shifts are 7 am to 6 pm on weekdays, and 8 am to 12 pm on Saturdays. Occasional help with boarding patients is expected.  We are looking for candidates who can reliably work the same shifts every week, but be flexible enough to cover for time off requests, sick days, including weekends etc. As part of our animal care staff you will work in a productive atmosphere while working closely with talented doctors and staff.

A current Colorado State Veterinary Technician License is required for this position. New graduates of accredited veterinary technology programs who have taken and passed the VTNE, whom are waiting for their license to become active, are also welcome and encouraged to apply. Job Description Summary: 

Our Cat Care Manager position is responsible for the health and hygiene of our cats. You will manage their medical needs, including daily assessment, exams, scheduling spays/neuters, veterinarian liaison for scheduling and records management, along with daily cleaning and maintenance of shelter and supervision of volunteers. You will be able to use your passion for animals to make their stay with us as stress-free as possible until they go home. This position is central to all that we accomplish.

Preferred Education/Training:  High school diploma or equivalent. Veterinary Assistant or Technician certification or experience preferred. Experience handling cats required; low-stress handling preferred.

Job duties

The Cat Care Manager will be responsible for the following, among other duties:

  • Maintains cleanliness of shelter with daily cleaning/laundry of all areas and supervision of volunteer cleaners

  • Assesses all cats in care daily for health, behavior and adoptability, making recommendations for improvements in all areas

  • Maintains professional working relationships with all staff, board and volunteers

  • Provides good communication of medical issues with weekly updates to staff and director

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Salary & Benefits:

 

This position starts at $11/hour and comes with 40 paid leave hours plus five days paid vacation.
